John Colrain scored for Glentoran in their famous 1–1 draw with Benfica in the 1967–68 European Cup first round at the Oval. He put Glentoran ahead from the penalty spot after 10 minutes before Eusébio equalised late on for the Portuguese giants. The first leg in Lisbon had finished 0–0, so Benfica went through on the old coin-toss rule after the tie ended 1–1 on aggregate. The result is still remembered as one of Glentoran’s greatest European performances, especially because Benfica were one of Europe’s elite sides at the time.
