Mario Götze’s goal against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final is one of the most important goals in football history. Coming on as a substitute, Götze met André Schürrle’s cross in extra time, controlled the ball on his chest, and calmly volleyed it past goalkeeper Sergio Romero. The strike gave Germany a 1–0 lead in the 113th minute and ultimately won them their fourth World Cup. The goal showed incredible composure under pressure and turned Götze into a national hero, forever linking his name with one of the greatest moments in World Cup history.
