Stephen Walsh is one of the defining modern Galway United players. A Galway man, he has had multiple spells with the club since first joining in 2010 and has shown unusual versatility, playing in defence for much of his career before later reinventing himself as a striker. By 2026, Extratime lists him with 465 appearances and 77 goals, underlining both his longevity and growing attacking impact. He was part of the side that won the 2023 First Division title, and Galway United’s own history notes that he was “re-born” as a forward during that promotion run, scoring 16 league goals.
