Johnny Glynn is one of the biggest names in Galway United history. A striker who joined from Corrib Shamrocks at the start of the 1984–85 season, he became a key figure in the club’s rise and is best remembered for scoring the winning goal in the 1991 FAI Cup final, Galway United’s greatest triumph. He captained the side and is closely associated with that successful era. After his playing days, he also stayed involved off the pitch, later working in coaching and academy roles with the club. In simple terms, Glynn is remembered as both a Galway United cup hero and a club legend.
