Vinny Faherty was one of Galway United’s most familiar modern forwards, with several spells at the club across different eras. A Galway native, he first broke through in 2007 and later returned to play a big part in key moments, especially in 2014, when he scored 11 league goals as Galway won promotion back to the Premier Division through the play-offs. Across his various stints, he became closely associated with the club because of both longevity and local identity. In simple terms, Faherty was not just a goalscorer, but a homegrown, repeat-return striker whose career became tightly tied to Galway United.
