Kevin Cassidy was an important Galway United player in the club’s early League of Ireland years. A Galway native, he spent the bulk of his senior career with United from the late 1970s into the early 1990s and is listed as having made 86 recorded appearances and scored 6 goals in Extratime’s database, though older totals can be incomplete. He also appears in Galway United’s season records as a leading scorer, notably finishing as the club’s joint top league scorer in 1979–80 and outright top scorer in 1982–83 with 13 goals. In simple terms, Cassidy was a durable local figure from the club’s formative era.
