Kevin Keegan was a major figure in Fulham’s late-1990s revival. He joined the club in 1997 as chief operating officer after Mohamed Al-Fayed’s takeover, then took over first-team affairs full time in May 1998. In the 1998–99 season, Keegan led Fulham to the Second Division title with 101 points and promotion, a key step in the club’s rise back toward the top flight. Fulham’s own history treats that season as a turning point in the modern era. Keegan left in 1999 to focus on becoming England manager, but at Fulham he is remembered as the high-profile leader who helped accelerate the club’s climb.
