Fulham’s 2010 Europa League Final was the biggest European night in the club’s history. Roy Hodgson’s side reached the final of the inaugural Europa League after a remarkable run that included wins over Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, Wolfsburg, and Hamburg. The final was played on 12 May 2010 in Hamburg, where Fulham lost 2–1 after extra time to Atlético Madrid. Diego Forlán scored twice for Atlético, while Simon Davies equalised for Fulham in normal time. Even though Fulham fell short, the run is still widely seen as one of the greatest achievements in the club’s history. Fulham’s own history calls that 2009–10 campaign arguably the club’s greatest season.
