Éric Cantona’s France career (1987–1995) was brilliant, chaotic, and ultimately unfinished. He won 45 caps and scored 20 goals, often playing as a creative forward with swagger and personality to match. In the early 1990s he was seen as a central figure for Les Bleus, but France’s failure to qualify for World Cup 1990 and 1994 limited his international stage. His last France appearance came in 1995, the same year as the infamous “kung-fu kick” incident at club level, and he never returned to the national team—making his international story feel like a missed peak.
