Romelu Lukaku’s Everton spell (2013–14 loan, then 2014–17 permanently) was the point he went from “talent” to elite Premier League wrecking ball. Everton made him a record signing from Chelsea FC for £28m, then built around his strengths: explosive channel runs, ruthless box finishing, and enough hold-up play to bring runners in. At Goodison Park he hit 68 Premier League goals in 141 games, including an Everton Premier League-era record 17 league goals in 2015–16. He left for Manchester United in 2017.
