Jackie McNamara’s senior career began at Dunfermline Athletic, signing from Gairdoch United in September 1991 and developing into a composed, versatile defender (mainly right-back). He made 79 league appearances for the Pars (1991–95) and his progress earned a £600,000 move to Celtic in October 1995—a major fee for Dunfermline at the time. He remained closely linked to the club: McNamara was inducted into the Dunfermline Hall of Fame in 2011, and returned in January 2019 as a consultant to provide technical support.
