Jock Stein’s time at Dunfermline Athletic (1960–64) is widely seen as the club’s turning point. Appointed in March 1960 with the Pars in trouble, he quickly transformed results and standards. The peak was Scottish Cup glory in 1961—Dunfermline’s first ever—winning a replayed final 2–0 vs Celtic at Hampden. Stein then took Dunfermline into Europe, reaching the Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-finals (1961–62) and later producing famous ties in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (including Everton and Valencia). He left in March 1964 to take charge of Hibernian.
