Maurice Malpas was one of Dundee United’s greatest ever players: a long-serving left-back who later moved into central defence, combining consistency, leadership and big-game pedigree. Arab Archive credits him with 830 appearances across 21 seasons, making him the club’s second-highest appearance holder, while Dundee United list him as their record holder for league and Scottish Cup appearances. He was part of the side that won the 1982–83 league title and later collected a 1994 Scottish Cup winner’s medal. He also earned 55 Scotland caps while at Tannadice, a club record for a United player. He remains one of the defining figures of Dundee United’s greatest era.
