Ivan Golac is one of Dundee United’s most iconic figures, both as a player and a manager. As a Yugoslav full-back, he joined the club in 1978 and became a key part of Jim McLean’s side, helping United win the 1982–83 league title and establish themselves in Europe. His greatest legacy, however, came as manager. Appointed in 1993, he led Dundee United to their first Scottish Cup in 1994, defeating Rangers 1–0 at Hampden thanks to Craig Brewster’s goal. That victory remains one of the most significant moments in the club’s history. Golac is remembered for his strong personality and belief in attacking football, and he remains a legendary figure at Tannadice for delivering the trophy that had long eluded the club.
