Davie Dodds was one of Dundee United’s great centre-forwards and a major figure in the Jim McLean era. Dundee United describe him as “talismanic,” and Arab Archive credits him with 150 goals in 369 appearances for the club. He came through the youth system, made his first-team debut in 1976, and became a key part of United’s most successful side. He helped the club win the 1979 and 1980 League Cups and the 1982–83 league title, and he was United’s top scorer in that title-winning season. He remains remembered as a powerful, instinctive striker and one of Tannadice’s most important goalscorers.
