Jon Daly joined Dundee United in January 2007 from Hartlepool and quickly became a reliable focal point up front. After early injury setbacks, he flourished under Craig Levein and then Peter Houston, forming an effective partnership with David Goodwillie. Daly captained United in 2010–11 and was part of the side that lifted the Scottish Cup in May 2010, ending a 16-year wait for the trophy. Across six seasons he scored 58 goals in 167 league games (73 in 199 overall matches) before leaving for Rangers in May 2013. He even opened his United account with a strike against Celtic
