Jimmy Hasty is one of the most remarkable figures in Dundalk history. The Belfast-born forward, who had lost his left arm in an industrial accident as a teenager, joined Dundalk in 1960 and became a genuine star. He scored 103 goals in 170 appearances, including 59 in 98 league games, placing him among the club’s great scorers. Hasty helped Dundalk win the 1962–63 League of Ireland title, the Leinster Senior Cup, and the Top Four Cup, and he also scored in their historic 1963 European Cup win away to FC Zürich, the first away victory in Europe by an Irish side.
