Declan O’Brien, known as “Fabio,” is one of the biggest names in Drogheda United history. He is widely listed as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, and his career at United Park was tied to the club’s most successful era. He scored in the 2005 FAI Cup final, helped Drogheda win the 2007 League of Ireland title, and also collected two Setanta Sports Cups and the 2012 League Cup. In rough terms, O’Brien’s Drogheda story is about goals, longevity and big-match impact, which is why he is remembered as one of the club’s defining modern forwards.
