Mick Cooke was the manager who gave Drogheda United fresh life in the early 2010s. Appointed in 2011, he first kept the club in the Premier Division and then oversaw a sharp rise despite limited resources. His best season came in 2012, when Drogheda won the League Cup and qualified for Europe after a strong league campaign. In 2013, his side reached three finals, the Setanta Cup, League Cup and FAI Cup, and pushed Malmö close in Europe, although they did not add more silverware. In simple terms, Cooke restored competitiveness, belief and momentum at United Park.
