Drogheda United’s 2024 FAI Cup run ended in glory, as they won the competition for just the second time in their history. Kevin Doherty’s side beat Dundalk 2–1, Wilton United 9–0, Athlone Town 4–1, and Wexford 3–2 to reach the final. At the Aviva Stadium on 10 November 2024, they then produced a major upset by beating Derry City 2–0. Andrew Quinn opened the scoring before Douglas James-Taylor sealed it from the penalty spot, while Elicha Ahui was named man of the match. In simple terms, it was a cup run built on momentum, goals and a brilliant final performance.
