Chris Martin was one of Derby County’s most important Championship-era forwards and the focal point of their attack for much of the 2010s. After arriving on loan from Norwich City in early 2013, he signed permanently that summer and became a reliable scorer and clever link player rather than just a penalty-box striker. Derby’s official site credited him with 215 appearances and 74 goals by March 2020, while he also topped their scoring charts in 2015–16 for a third straight season. Strong in the air, neat with his feet, and intelligent with his movement, Martin was central to Derby’s repeated promotion pushes under Steve McClaren and beyond.
