John Sillett was one of Coventry City’s most important figures as both player and manager. He played 128 times for the club in the 1960s and was part of the side that won promotion from the Third Division in 1963–64. Later, after returning in a coaching role, he teamed up with George Curtis to lead Coventry to the 1987 FA Cup, still the greatest achievement in the club’s history. As manager, he oversaw one of the strongest spells of the club’s top-flight era, with league finishes of 10th, 10th, 7th, and 12th across four full seasons. Sillett became a true Sky Blues legend.
