Steve Ogrizovic was one of Coventry City’s greatest ever players and arguably the club’s most iconic goalkeeper. Signed from Shrewsbury Town in 1984, he spent 16 years at Highfield Road and made a club-record 601 appearances in all competitions, including 507 league games. He was the goalkeeper in Coventry’s 1987 FA Cup-winning side, the biggest triumph in the club’s history, and became famous for his consistency, durability, and loyalty. Remarkably, he also scored a goal for Coventry in 1986. Ogrizovic was not just a long-serving player; he became one of the clearest symbols of Coventry City itself.
