Jimmy Hill was one of the most important figures in Coventry City history, even though he never played for the club. Appointed manager in 1961, he transformed Coventry on and off the pitch, changing the kit to sky blue, helping create the “Sky Blues” identity, and driving what became known as the Sky Blue Revolution. Under Hill, Coventry won the Third Division in 1963–64 and the Second Division in 1966–67, reaching the top flight for the first time in their history. Later he also returned as managing director and chairman. Hill did not just improve Coventry; he helped define the modern club.
