Coventry City’s 1987 FA Cup win remains the greatest day in the club’s history. On 16 May 1987, the Sky Blues beat Tottenham Hotspur 3–2 after extra time at Wembley to lift the club’s first major trophy. Tottenham went ahead early, but Coventry responded through Dave Bennett and then Keith Houchen, whose diving header became one of the most famous goals in FA Cup final history. The winner came in extra time when Gary Mabbutt turned the ball into his own net under pressure. Managed by George Curtis and John Sillett, Coventry’s victory is still the club’s defining triumph.
