Scott Parker came through the academy at Charlton Athletic and became one of the club’s finest modern midfielders. Making his first-team debut in the late 1990s under Alan Curbishley, Parker quickly stood out for his energy, tackling ability and composure on the ball. He played a key role in Charlton’s establishment as a solid Premier League side and became club captain at a young age. In 2004 he earned a high-profile move to Chelsea F.C. for around £10 million, one of Charlton’s biggest transfer deals at the time. Although his career later included clubs such as Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham, many Charlton supporters still view Parker as one of the best academy products the club has produced in the Premier League era.
