Saša Ilić was a goalkeeper for Charlton Athletic during the club’s Premier League years under Alan Curbishley. Signed from Serbian side Partizan Belgrade in 2003, Ilić arrived with a strong reputation and became Charlton’s first-choice keeper for much of the 2004–05 season. He is best remembered for a remarkable individual performance against Liverpool at Anfield in December 2004, where he produced a series of outstanding saves in a 0–0 draw. Although his time at Charlton was relatively short and he later lost his place to Dean Kiely and Stephan Andersen, supporters still remember him fondly for that display and for bringing calmness and experience to the squad during one of Charlton’s strongest Premier League periods.
