Jock Stein is Celtic’s defining modern manager. Appointed in March 1965, he transformed the club with sharper tactics, higher standards, and fearless attacking football. His team won the European Cup in 1967—the famous Lisbon Lions—making Celtic the first British club to lift the trophy. Domestically, Stein drove an era of dominance: nine straight league titles (1966–74) and a huge haul of cups (Celtic credit him with 10 championships, 8 Scottish Cups, 6 League Cups). The Jock Stein Stand at Celtic Park honours his legacy.
