Roy Keane joined Celtic in December 2005 after leaving Manchester United, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to play for the club he supported as a boy. Despite arriving late in his career, he made an immediate impact with his leadership and composure in midfield. He debuted in a Scottish Cup tie against Clyde — a shock 2–1 defeat — but soon settled into Gordon Strachan’s side. Keane made 13 appearances, scoring 1 goal (against Falkirk), and helped Celtic secure the 2005–06 Scottish Premier League title and League Cup before retiring in June 2006 due to injury concerns.
