Martin O'Neill and Henrik Larsson formed one of the most iconic manager-player partnerships in Celtic history. When O’Neill arrived at Celtic F.C. in 2000, Larsson was already a star, but under O’Neill he reached legendary status. The manager built his team around Larsson’s movement, intelligence and finishing, and the Swede repaid him with 174 goals in 221 games, including famous performances in Old Firm matches and the 2003 UEFA Cup run. O’Neill often said Larsson was the best player he ever coached, while Larsson credited O’Neill for creating the perfect environment for him to thrive.
