Jonny Hayes joined Celtic from Aberdeen in June 2017, reuniting with manager Brendan Rodgers, who had coached him at Reading. A versatile and hard-working winger capable of playing as a full-back or wing-back, Hayes was valued for his pace, pressing, and team-first mentality rather than headline numbers. He scored twice in 68 appearances, including a memorable goal at Ibrox in a 2–0 win over Rangers in 2019. Though never a guaranteed starter, he was a dependable squad player who contributed to three league titles, two Scottish Cups, and a League Cup before leaving in 2020 to return to Aberdeen.
