John Haworth is one of the most important figures in Burnley history because he led the club to its first great successes. He managed Burnley from 1910 to 1924 and took them from the Second Division into the top flight, then to the 1914 FA Cup, still the club’s only win in that competition. He also guided Burnley to the 1920–21 league title, the club’s first championship, after a famous 30-match unbeaten run. Haworth’s legacy is not just trophies, but building Burnley into a serious force. For many, he stands alongside Harry Potts as one of the club’s greatest-ever managers.
