Jerry Dawson is one of the biggest names in Burnley history because he set the standard for loyalty and longevity. A goalkeeper, he played for the club from 1907 to 1929 and still holds Burnley’s record for most league appearances, with 522. He was a key figure in the side that won Burnley’s first league title in 1920–21, and club history still places him among the greats of that era. Dawson also won 2 England caps, showing how highly he was rated beyond Turf Moor. His legacy is about durability, consistency, and being one of the club’s original great servants.
