Ashley Barnes was a key Burnley forward under Sean Dyche, known for aggression, work rate and awkward, physical centre-forward play.
Signed in 2014, he helped Burnley win promotion to the Premier League in 2014 and 2016. His partnership with Chris Wood later became central to Burnley’s survival years, with Barnes pressing defenders, winning fouls and scoring important goals.
He was especially effective in the 2018–19 Premier League season, reaching double figures. Not always elegant, but hugely committed, Barnes embodied Dyche-era Burnley: tough, direct, disciplined and difficult to play against.
