Burnley’s 2022–23 season was about total reset and immediate domination. Relegated from the Premier League the year before, they appointed Vincent Kompany and won the Championship title at the first attempt with 101 points. Burnley sealed promotion on 7 April 2023 with a 2–1 win at Middlesbrough, doing it with seven games left, a Championship record at the time. They later confirmed the title by beating Blackburn Rovers 1–0 on 25 April. More than the results, the season stood out because of the style: Burnley played aggressive, front-foot football, changing the club’s image and making it one of the most memorable promotion campaigns in recent years.
