Gerry Gow was one of Bristol City’s greatest midfielders. A tough, combative Scot, he became the heartbeat of Alan Dicks’ side in the 1970s. He was central to City’s promotion to the First Division in 1976 and their four-year stay in the top flight. Known for fearless tackling, stamina and leadership, Gow gave the team bite and character in midfield. He later played for Manchester City and Rotherham, but remains an Ashton Gate legend, strongly associated with Bristol City’s best post-war era.
