Adriano Basso was a popular Bristol City goalkeeper in the mid-to-late 2000s. Signed from Woking in 2005, he became known for his athletic saves, passion and strong personality. He was a key part of Gary Johnson’s side that won promotion to the Championship in 2007, then helped City reach the 2008 Championship play-off final. Basso’s shot-stopping and leadership made him one of the standout keepers in the division. Although City lost the final to Hull, Basso remained a fan favourite and is remembered as one of the club’s best modern goalkeepers.
