Graham Potter was the manager who pushed Brighton forward stylistically and competitively. Appointed in May 2019, he introduced a more possession-based, flexible approach after Chris Hughton’s era and gradually improved the team’s level. Brighton finished 15th, 16th, then 9th under Potter, with that 2021–22 campaign setting a club record in the Premier League for both points (51) and highest finish at the time. He left in September 2022 to join Chelsea. Potter is remembered at Brighton for modernising the team’s football, improving players, and helping establish the club as more than just a side trying to survive.
