The Goldstone Ground was Brighton & Hove Albion’s home from 1902 to 1997 and remains one of the most emotional sites in the club’s history. Located in Hove on Old Shoreham Road, it hosted Brighton for 95 years and at its peak drew big crowds, with a record attendance of 36,747 against Fulham in 1958. Its closure became notorious because the ground was sold without a proper replacement being ready, helping trigger one of the darkest periods in the club’s history. Brighton’s final game there was a 1–0 win over Doncaster Rovers in April 1997. The site was later redeveloped as a retail park.
