Ken Coote is one of the biggest figures in Brentford history. A defender and captain, he played for the club from 1949 to 1964 and remains Brentford’s all-time record appearance maker with 559 games. Brentford’s official history highlights that he captained the Bees to the Fourth Division title in 1963, was named the club’s Player of the Year in 1962, and later entered the Hall of Fame. He was admired for consistency and durability, missing very few league matches across long stretches of his career. Coote’s legacy is simple: loyalty, leadership, and a level of service that still defines Brentford tradition.
