Michael Zorc was one of Borussia Dortmund’s great one-club men. A central midfielder, he spent his entire senior playing career at BVB and became known for leadership, consistency, and an unusual goal output for a deeper player. Bundesliga’s profile says he finished with a club-record 572 competitive appearances and 159 goals, then won two Bundesliga titles, the 1989 DFB-Pokal, the 1997 Champions League, and the 1997 Intercontinental Cup as a player. His importance went beyond the pitch. After retiring in 1998, he moved into Dortmund’s sporting leadership and played a major role in shaping later title-winning eras as an executive.
