Roman Weidenfeller was Borussia Dortmund’s long-time first-choice goalkeeper and one of the key figures of the Klopp era. BVB say he made 453 appearances for the club, winning the Bundesliga in 2011 and 2012, the DFB-Pokal in 2012 and 2017, and reaching the 2013 Champions League final. He was known for reflexes, authority, and big-match mentality rather than flashy style. Weidenfeller gave Dortmund stability through more than a decade and became one of the club’s most trusted leaders from the back. After retiring, he remained closely tied to BVB as a brand ambassador, which shows how strong his standing at the club still is.
