Ottmar Hitzfeld was one of Borussia Dortmund’s greatest coaches. He took charge in 1991 and transformed BVB into Germany’s strongest side of the mid-1990s. Dortmund’s official history says he led the club through its most successful decade, winning two Bundesliga titles and the UEFA Champions League. Under Hitzfeld, Dortmund won the Bundesliga in 1994–95 and 1995–96, then beat Juventus 3–1 in the 1997 Champions League final. He gave the team structure, discipline, and big-game belief, helping shape a side built around players like Sammer, Möller, Riedle, Reuter, and Kohler. He is widely seen as one of the coaches who defined modern Dortmund.
