Sven Bender was a key Borussia Dortmund midfielder in Jürgen Klopp’s era. He joined in 2009 and became known for toughness, work rate, positional discipline, and total commitment to the team. He was not the flashy star, but he gave Dortmund balance and steel in midfield, which made the more creative players around him even better. Bundesliga’s profile notes that he made 224 competitive appearances for BVB across eight years, winning the Bundesliga in 2010–11 and 2011–12, the 2016–17 DFB-Pokal, and the 2013 and 2014 Supercups. He is remembered as one of Dortmund’s most dependable and selfless players of that period.
