Chris Sutton and Alan Shearer formed Blackburn Rovers’ famous “SAS” strike partnership, which spearheaded their 1994–95 Premier League title triumph under Kenny Dalglish; Sutton had arrived from Norwich City for a British-record £5 million in 1994 to partner Shearer, and the combination was devastating, with Shearer scoring 34 league goals and Sutton 15, giving them 49 between them as Blackburn edged Manchester United to the championship by one point; Shearer provided explosive finishing and movement while Sutton offered physical presence, aerial strength and intelligent link-up play, making them one of the Premier League’s most memorable strike partnerships.
