Nikola Žigić was a big-name signing for Birmingham City in May 2010, arriving from Valencia and giving Blues a totally different option up front thanks to his 6'7" (2.02m) frame. He became a key “Plan B/Plan A” target man: winning headers, pinning centre-backs, and making set-pieces a weapon. His standout moment was at Wembley in the 2011 League Cup final, where he scored Birmingham’s opening goal against Arsenal in their famous 2–1 win. Even after relegation, he stayed on and finished his main Blues spell with 128 league games and 32 goals.
