Jude Bellingham’s Birmingham City spell was short but huge. He broke through at 16, becoming the club’s youngest-ever first-team player when he started an EFL Cup tie at Portsmouth in August 2019, beating Trevor Francis’ old record. He quickly became a Championship regular in 2019–20 and even became their youngest goalscorer, netting on his home debut vs Stoke. In July 2020 he joined Borussia Dortmund in a deal reported around £20–25m, and Birmingham famously retired his No.22 shirt in recognition of his impact.
