Lothar Matthäus was one of Bayern Munich’s most complete and commanding players. He spent 12 years at the club across two spells and combined leadership, aggression, technique, and tactical intelligence, playing in midfield and later in a deeper defensive role. Bayern’s Hall of Fame notes that he won seven Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, and the 1996 UEFA Cup with the club. He was also captain, the driving force of several title-winning sides, and one of the biggest personalities in Bayern history. More than just a star, Matthäus helped define Bayern’s authority and ambition in the 1980s and 1990s.
