Udo Lattek was one of Bayern Munich’s most important coaches and a central figure in the club’s first great era. He took charge in 1970 and helped turn a talented side built around Beckenbauer, Müller and Maier into a dominant force. Under Lattek, Bayern won multiple Bundesliga titles and became European champions, laying the foundations for the club’s long-term elite status. Bayern’s official records note that he won six Bundesliga titles with the club, more than any other Bayern coach, and that his 414 competitive matches rank among the highest in club history. He is remembered as a master builder of winning teams.
