Bayern Munich’s 2013 Champions League win was a defining modern triumph. They beat Borussia Dortmund 2–1 in the final at Wembley on 25 May 2013, with Mario Mandžukić scoring first and Arjen Robben netting the late winner after İlkay Gündoğan had equalised from the penalty spot. It was the first all-German European Cup final, and Robben was named man of the match. The victory completed Bayern’s treble under Jupp Heynckes, after they had already won the Bundesliga and later added the DFB-Pokal. Their route was especially impressive, including a 7–0 aggregate demolition of Barcelona in the semi-finals.
